1、Apple's latest Special Event wasn't exactly big on games, but it did show off Directive Games' rather lovely looking AR game Galaga AR.A revamp of the retro classic, Galaga AR has you moving around in the real world trying to shoot down enemies and score huge points. There's also multiplayer functionality, if you happen to have some buddies with an ARKit 2 phone. It honestly looks like a bit of silly fun, but not exactly a killer app for to sell the new iPhone XS and XS Max. Still, if you've got some mates and enough room, it could be a laugh.Galaga AR is also just the first game in Directive's planned "AR Arcade" series, though no further titles were announced. AR Pac-Man seems like a safe bet though. Everyone loves Pac-Man.You can expect Galaga AR to drop on the App Store later this year. We're not sure on the exact date or the pricing, but we'll let you know when we find out more.Nintendo is well known for its innovative consoles, from the GameCube (perfect) to the Wii U (meh) and now the Switch (also perfect) - but what if it just... stopped making them and focusing all its development efforts on them? It's a future that company president Shuntaro Furukawa is considering. In an interview with Nikkei (translated by Nintendo Everything), Furukawa-san has stated that the company is staying flexible when it comes to its next steps in the games industry."We aren't really fixated on our consoles. At the moment we're offering the uniquely developed Nintendo Switch and its software – and that's what we’re basing how we deliver the 'Nintendo experience' on," he said."That being said, technology changes. We'll continue to think flexibly about how to deliver that experience as time goes on."Furukawa goes on to say that "In the long-term, perhaps our focus as a business could shift away from home consoles – flexibility is just as important as ingenuity."

- Updated on October 23rd at 19:50: Cubus Games has got in touch to let us know that the release of Necklace of Skulls earlier today was a mistake. While it was live on the App Store earlier, it has since been removed and is no longer available to purchase and download. We've asked Cubus when me might expect Necklace of Skulls to be released (again).Original story follows...Cubus Games has released Necklace of Skulls on iOS today, which is its next gamebook after the spine-chilling Silver Award-winning Heavy Metal Thunder. As we noted before, Necklace of Skulls is a digital adaptation of part of Dave Morris's Virtual Reality series of print-and-paper gamebooks. In it, you play as a warrior, huntress, wayfarer, or sorceress. Your task is to avenge the death of your brother at the hands of a demon-wizard known only as Necklace of Skulls. It's a story that combines Mayan history with fantastical elaboration. This digital version of the game features art by award-winning illustrator Xavier Mula, an original soundtrack, and save game features.
- Supercell's newest phenomenon is already making waves despite being out in a limited number of countries.I wasn't a huge fan of Clash of Clans to say the least but Clash Royale is quite addicting and it's free to play aspect doesn't limit your experience at all. It's a mix between a trading card game, a tower defense and a MOBA. You use cards to place units that then automatically attack one of three forts. If you destroy the main fort or all three, you win. It's simple, fast and efficient and it's the a good multiplayer experience on the go.If you were wondering when you could get your hands on the game outside of the soft launched countries, we now have an answer for you! Supercell announced today that Clash Royale is coming out next month on iOS and Android with this video:
- There's been a resurgence in local multiplayer these days, with raucous single-screen battlers like TowerFall and Nidhogg. Solo dev Antti Ojala wants to bring that to iPad with his new game, Duck Bumps. Each player gets two buttons in their corner of the iPad, which is used to give a plump boxy bird a little waft of Flappy Bird-style flight. The challenge then is to navigate yourself onto another player's bonce. If you bop all three other birds you win the round. Also, when you get bumped, your duck turns into a shower of uncontrollable duck bits that rain down on other players and score you extra points. It certainly makes for some tense final battles as you must dodge ducks and duck bits alike. The game's got four levels with random modifiers that mix up the gameplay. And you can play it with two or three or four players - or solo if you want to practice.Duck Bumps doesn't quite have the tactical brilliance of TowerFall, or the same level of friendship-ruining mayhem as a game like Slamjet Stadium. But it's a cute and fun little game, and a worthy addition to the iPad's list of single-screen multiplayer games. It's available now for iPad, and costs £1.49 / $1.99. Get it here.!
