The Shepherd and the Wolf
Following the success of their in-game Korn concert earlier this year AdventureQuest has teamed up with another band to perform another concert battle. This time around though they've swapped nu-metal for grunge as Alice In Chains will be the featured band this gig.

The event will run between now and the 30th November and will be accessible for new and old players alike. There are several options for getting into the event. Players can either get to it through the news screen, talking to an Alice in Chains promoter in town, via the Travel Crystal which will give you a Magic Concert Ticket. The promoter way sounds the most fun to me though.

The battle concert will be free for all players to enjoy, though much like the Korn version of this event, you will be able to buy a VIP package if you'd like. This will include Alice In Chains themed armour, weapons, pets, travel forms rare badges and musical items. It will also include a backstage pass so you can grab a virtual selfie with the band.

Much like with Korn, Alice In Chains will have their own stage monster you'll have to do battle with. You'll face off against the Ghost of Unsung Songs. She'll summon various creatures into the pit for you to contend with whilst you try and defeat her. Doing so will net you a giant treasure chest.

There will be numerous quests to complete in addition to battling monsters to the grunge soundtrack. There's also a chance you'll run into Thrash, who was the stage boss from the Korn event, too if you play through the gig battle enough times.

AdventureQuest 3D is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Nominate your Game of the Year for the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award 2020

 Mini guard(beta)
Iwata Asks - an interview series where the CEO of Nintendo grills his colleagues for development details on their new games - has returned after a year's hiatus, for a chat about Majora's Mask 3D.

You can read the entire interview here, but here are five interesting tidbits about the game's creation - both the N64 original, and the 3DS remake.
The treasure chest fanfare has lyrics
They're unofficial, according to the notes on the interview, but apparently it's popular in Japan to sing "Se-sa-me-sa~uce" whenever Link opens up a treasure chest.

Naturally, we will now do this from now on in every Zelda game.
The time travel system was going to be in a different game
When Shigeru Miyamoto told Eiji Aonuma that he could only have one year to make the next Zelda game, Aonuma turned to Yoshiaki Koizumi for help.

Koizumi was working on a different game "where you would play in a compact game world over and over again" (in an earlier interview, it's described as a cops and robbers-based board game). The pair turned this into Majora's Mask.
The three day timer originally lasted a week
At first, Link had an entire week to save the world, but it was eventually shortened to just three days.

"In this game the townspeople do different things each day and many different things happen, but when the timespan becomes a week, that's just too much to remember," says Anouma. "You can't simply remember who's where doing what on which day.

"When you returned to the first day it was like 'Do I have to go through an entire week again…', so we thought three days would be just right."
Why the boss fights changed on 3DS
When Aonuma went back to the N64 game, he realised that the boss battls were a bit weird. "When you first face a boss, it is natural to start looking for its weakness so you can figure out where to attack it. However, in the Nintendo 64 version of this game, you couldn't see the weaknesses at all."

The team at Grezzo remade every boss battles by focusing on making the objective easier to understand, and provide them with more obvious weak spots.

While the models are largely the same, "the bosses' movements and strategies to take them down have all changed, so it took about the same effort as creating the stages from scratch," says Tomohiro Yamamura.
Anouma has magical dream super powers
During the manic one-year development of Majora's Mask, an exhausted Aonuma had a nightmare where he was being chased around by a Deku. "I woke up screaming!"

"I went to work the next day and that's when Takumi Kawagoe told me that he finished making a movie for the Dekus, so I had him show it to me. And that movie was exactly like my dream!"

Iwata laughs, and helpfully suggests: "Perhaps you were possessed by something."

Thursday, October 2nd will see the iOS release of PikPok Games and Adult Swim's recently announced match-3 RPG, Adventure Xpress.

In Adventure Xpress, you play a lone mail carrier in a world strangely hostile to postal workers.

As you journey across the land trying to carry out your delivery duties, you'll have to fend off monsters and bandits by playing match-3 puzzles.

Do damage to enemies by matching gems in the grid-based puzzles, but be wary of their elemental alignment.

Certain combos have the power to do more damage than others, depending on what you're fighting.

Adventure Xpress will also include spells, items, and other typical RPG goods. It will also be free to play.

Follow Adult Swim Games and PikPok Games on Twitter for more updates.

Developer PikPok Games has previously worked on Robot Unicorn Attack 2.

The Dog, the Cock, and the Fox
Evilibrium: Soul Hunters is a CCG dungeon crawler from Creative Mobile and Orc Work. You'll play as the titular soul hunter as you capture the souls of various monsters so that you can use them to fight for you in battle. It's available now for iOS with an Android version reportedly coming soon.

With that premise and an art style that's somewhat reminiscent of the excellent Darkest Dungeon, it sounds kind of like a more macabre version of Pokemon. You can even evolve the various beasties that you capture up to 5 times to make them more powerful.

You'll be able to capture these souls once you've beaten the monster in battle first. Then once you've exited that dungeon you'll be able to create a card that will allow you to use that creature in battle. There are over 100 souls available in Evilibrium with creatures ranging from your standard skeleton to Fairies to killer bunnies.

Reality Clash is one of those games which are hard to sum up in a single sentence. Also out there, however, are other players who you can enter into VR-style duels with.

When you're not exploring the back-alleys of your town or slinging bullets at fellow players you can trade off your extra items and guns using a storefront which ties into that cryptocurrency-blockchain stuff.
