THE GODS, according to an ancient legend, made choice of certain trees to be under their special protection. Jupiter chose the oak, Venus the myrtle, Apollo the laurel, Cybele the pine, and Hercules the poplar. Minerva, wondering why they had preferred trees not yielding fruit, inquired the reason for their choice. Jupiter replied, "It is lest we should seem to covet the honor for the fruit." But said Minerva, "Let anyone say what he will the olive is more dear to me on account of its fruit." Then said Jupiter, "My daughter, you are rightly called wise; for unless what we do is useful, the glory of it is vain."

On Monday, Oculus will finally see the first customers getting their hands on their Rift after a Kickstarter that started in 2012.

It really did foster a new era for VR after multiple failed attempts and brought life back into the market. It was then followed by HTC, Sony and more as everyone is seemingly trying to develop for VR.

The first Oculus Rift has shipped, deliveries begin Monday 3.28.2016. pic.twitter.com/C0MMKmezun— Brendan Iribe (@brendaniribe) March 24, 2016
With its launch line-up of thirty games and plenty more coming before the end of the year, it's an exciting time for the industry.

Ahead of its launch on Monday,Oculus has shipped the first Rift, it's seems like those are for Kickstarter backers and consumers. I'd expect a lot of them to end up on people's doorstep next week anyways.

The week after that it's HTC's turn as the Vive should arrive on April 5th.

Are you convinced by VR?
3DS hackers have figured out a way to let the handheld play games from any region, by using a loophole in the YouTube app to run homebrew code on the console.

The exploit involves placing some files on your SD card, changing your DNS settings on your 3DS, and then using the YouTube app which is available, for free, on the eShop.

The creators say that this won't permanently affect your console: simply change your DNS settings back and your console will be as good as new. That being said, Pocket Gamer takes no responsibility if you use this info and balls up your device.

The modern also say that this exploit does not allow for piracy, saying "these exploits run strictly in userland, meaning that we do not have full control over the console, and therefore cannot run pirated software".

If you want to try it yourself, check out this NeoGAF post and get the YouTube app before Nintendo removes it from the eShop (like every other app that allows for exploits).

Who knew it could be so fun to build and play a game based on the idea of a rabbit getting killed over and over again by lava?

Furdemption was a great, brutal platformer that played in byte-sized levels each more treacherous than the last. It featured a great and fuzzy art style and went on to be updated with a lot more levels.

Rare Sloth is now moving on the sequel which adds new levels and items but keeps the same formula:
"Yes, indeedy. I shouldn't feel like a bride without one. I remember telling Matthew, that evening when he brought me to Green Gables, that I never expected to be a bride because I was so homely no one would ever want to marry me--unless some foreign missionary did. I had an idea then that foreign missionaries couldn't afford to be finicky in the matter of looks if they wanted a girl to risk her life among cannibals. You should have seen the foreign missionary Priscilla married. He was as handsome and inscrutable as those daydreams we once planned to marry ourselves, Diana; he was the best dressed man I ever met, and he raved over Priscilla's `ethereal, golden beauty.' But of course there are no cannibals in Japan."
